Back to Reality!

It is back to normal daily and weekly routines after returning last night from our visit to Singapore and Malaysia.   I woke up too early this morning and have not re-adjusted to English time yet. However, reality is setting in as the washing machine has been on the go and food shopping is the next chore!
We were in Singapore to attend my son and daughter-in-law's wedding banquet.  The butterflies that I tatted to go with the wedding favours were a great success, however it was announced at the beginning of the banquet that they were 'embrodiered' but called 'tatting'!   Obviously at that point in the proceedings I was unable to stand up in front of everyone and explain how they were made. One guest has subsequently contacted my son asking about the tools that are used to make them.  Someone else e.mailed him with a photo of two of them sitting on the table saying that they were so beautiful, and here it is.

Before the banquet was held there were a few Chinese traditions that my family were involved in. One of them is the giving of tea in the morning. I don't have a picture of myself taking part in this event, as apart from the official photographer there was only me taking photos.

This is my other son, serving tea to the couple.

I have yet to sort out all the photographs that have been taken whilst on this momentous trip to the far East.

  1. Congratulations on the wedding! Great looking pair!

You went back in time. The haze is getting worst, the PSI has crossed 300 :(

    1. We only had about 24 hrs of the haze in Singapore, but you poor people have no choice and have to live in it. I've never experienced anything like that before and along with the heat it makes it even worse.

  2. How nice to be able to add your butteriness to the favours, I made butterflies for my favours at my wedding.
Weddings are so different in every country and I hope you enjoyed it, I look forward to seeing more of your photos.

  4. Isn't the bride beautiful! - it must have been a whirlwind trip, it seems no time at all since Jane mentioned that you had left for the celebrations. Like everyone else, I, too, am looking forward to the pictures.
My youngest daughter will be getting married in April - but I don't think I could possibly tat all those butterflies - they were such a lovely, personal touch. Weren't there music notes as well?

    1. It was a bit of a whirlwind trip Maureen, but we did have time to relax. The butterflies don't take long to make and if you started now you would certainly have enough. Yes there were music notes, unfortunately never saw them again either at the banquet or afterwards. My son did not seem bothered and just said the hotel lost things (items much more expensive than a few bits of tatting) and so his mind was on sorting out other problems. Fortunately I did not make many, but there is a lesson to be learnt, never hand over your tatting to a third party!!!
