Robbie Burns was a famous Scottish poet and he is always remembered on this day, especially in this part of the world.
This evening I am going to a 'Burns Night' celebration. On the menu will be 'Haggis neeps and tatties" it is being held in a grand house.
Unfortunately I don't have any tartan to wear so made myself a thistle brooch - the emblem of Scotland.

Not a brilliant representation but hopefully it will be recognisable!
There might even be one of these chaps attending!
Your thistle brooch is just what's needed! Enjoy Burns night.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane I did!
DeleteYour feisty little thistle does Robbie Burns proud!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fox
DeleteAnd will someone read aloud 'Address to a Haggis'?
ReplyDeleteYes someone did!
DeleteVery Good, cannie lassy
ReplyDeleteThanks and we sang Scottish Songs
DeleteI think that's a wonderful thistle design!
ReplyDeleteI played with a harp ensemble once for a Burns Night celebration. It was great fun.
We had a pipe organ playing, and it was great fun.
DeleteI remember your Burns night from last year! - didn't you tat a lot of thistle bookmarks for the occasion? Enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteAh Maureen that was two years ago - but same place and the hostess still has the thistles but could not find them this evening as she was going to put them back on the tables, she has promised them for 2016 when the next Burns Night is to be held. It is such a huge house I am not surprised.
ReplyDeleteI went to a Robert Burns night too! Unfortunately we had no neeps and tatties and the amount of haggis was very limited. Pah to that, I say.
ReplyDeleteok I know haggis and tatties, but what are neeps? Oh my, and my married name is Cameron. sheesh.
ReplyDeleteWell Cameron is a good Scottish name! Neeps are swedes or turnips and are mashed just like the tatties.
