Can't see the wood for the trees!

Which basically means unable to understand a situation clearly because you are too involved.  I think that happens to many of us throughout our lives and sometimes we just need to step back and perhaps talk to others on the outside and get their views about a situation that we are directly involved in.

This is my tatting version of the saying, it is the be-stitched pattern which can be found on this page no idea what I want to use it for as yet, just waiting for some inspiration.  I do know that it will not become a towel edging.  It is resting on a huge piece of Cedar Wood that was in the garage - where else?!   Which reminds me if you want to know what is made in the garage then please look at this facebook page

I guess today cannot go by without mentioning the Queen's 90th birthday. To celebrate I have posted this union jack flag -  painted and very wet!  One of the children at the Craft Club yesterday created this work of art!

  1. I really like your edging on the actual wood like that. Any chance of a an artistic display, maybe near a place where you work. I'm currently deep in the forest!

  3. And we in Qld have been denied our lovely Queen's Birthday weekend this year - they have decided to celebrate it in October instead!! - Moveable Feast. I particularly love the photograph of Her Majesty with Princess Anne.
You should frame your lovely edging and hang it somewhere with the quotation embroidered underneath.

    1. Usually the Queen's birthday passes by without much comment and her official celebrations always take place in June but this year has been a little different because of the milestone she has reached. October though seems to be rather late to celebrate. Fab idea for the trees and wood, thanks

  4. A pattern close to it was done in one of those really old tatting books that the instructions are very hard to understand, glad some one did this one, I think is is beautiful and wish there was a way to put a lake and deer with it too :)
