Where did you get that hat?

I purchased this hat to wear in the sun, and fortunately the sun has just appeared over the last few days here in the UK. I did not like the original trim on the hat but really was pushed for time to make a new one.  So I recycled the pew ends by sewing the button flowers on the ribbon at a different angle.

Not entirely happy with the result, may be it is a bit too bright?  Also not sure that it suits the hat so did not go mad and put all the button flowers around it, instead spaced them out.  I will look out for a suitable tatted pattern to work as a trim and may be finish it in time for next Summer.

This is what the hat looked like before, not very exciting.

Jane is back today and I might get a peep into her suitcase to see what she has purchased whilst she has been over the pond.

The title for this post came from a very old song sung by Stanley Holloway actually there is a kind of resemblance, I mean the hat not the person!

  1. Hi,

May I say a tatted ribbon band and then put the flowers you have made on it, I love the flowers you have made, and it will be a totally unusual hat.
The sun keeps popping in and out at the moment today, on Daybreak they were at the Lavender farm just down the road from me, they said it would be sunny with some cloud

  3. Great hat! Not nearly big enough for me, but I like your idea of adding tatting to the hat band.

I need to wear a hat in the sun... a great big hat to completely shade my face and neck. The sun and I do not get along very well. Maybe I should consider decorating a hat band with tatting.

  4. This is a really cute and useful hat! I think the tatted flower looks really cute!

I noticed the comment above from Jane. She apparently was at the airport?!!! :)

So glad to see that she is back - but unfortunately I can't read her blog post for today (Aug. 2)! This happened once before where it wasn't visible, on neither of my computers. So I don't know if it's just me! I'm so anxious to hear about her vacation!!!!
