Christmas Stockings

In case you think that I have just made these stockings, the answer is no.  I put them together last Christmas, however the Snowman and Santa Claus I tatted over 20 years ago.  They come from The Complete Book of Tatting by Rebecca Jones and in those days it was the only tatting book that I really used patterns from, there was no Internet and the book provided some different projects such as cats, butterflies as well as an abundance of Christmas tatting.  How life has changed in the tatting world since then.

They are hanging on a Shaker Style Rocking Chair that 'im in the garage made and if you sit on it they give off a lovely jingle sound!

Thank you for all the suggestions on what to do with the Christmas baubles, due to not feeling that well I only managed to put them in this cloth container, will make more of an effort for next year!

  4. Oh it all looks so good and love the Santa tatted the top of the stocking looks like those new colors that Lizbeth makes but I have friends that twist to colors together. That make a good effect. Love your house and chair, I have always like that shaker style with the simple beauty. Have a wonderful Christmas!

  6. I'm wondering if you have the same upper respiratory infection that has so many of us coughing our heads off here, across the pond. Regardless, I wish you speedy healing. Your tatting looks grand and very festive. Have a Merry and Peaceful Christmas!

  7. Wow Stringy Dogs that is exactly what it is and the coughing is terrible, I have also got a very gravelly voice - some might even say sexy!!! So some how this infection has travelled over the pond! Abundance of Christmas Wishes to you.

  8. Absolutely love those stockings, delightfully displayed on the fantastic Shaker-style chair! I received Rebecca Jones' book for Christmas in 1990 when I first learned to tat, and it is indeed a treasured classic and an excellent reference book! (This book might be the first to show drawings.) And the baubles look great in the container!

All your photos look like they came from a Christmas magazine! I'm impressed you're doing posts, even though not you're feeling well. Sure hope you feel better soon.

  9. Thanks Kathy for your lovely comments. I would rather do a blog post than many other things at the moment, as have no energy!
