Continuing with the Doily

I am still working on this doily and making it up as I go along, have tatted a little bit more than this picture shows. but running out of thread that will match.  The reason is that I have wasted quite a bit of thread when chopping the original up and have also made a few false starts. Not only that I did not realise how much thread the project would take.

However, luckily I purchased 9 balls of green thread on e.bay, some of the colours will match and should enable me to continue.  Will show you another picture in a few days time.

  1. Actually, I think it looks finished just as it is! Even though it's blue/green, it somehow reminds me of a sunflower.

    1. The person I am doing it for wants the doily to be of a certain size, so unfortunately I have to keep going! Agree it does look like a sunflower

  2. Estimating the amount of thread needed for a project is something I really struggle with, so I tend to do large projects in white. I love the various shades of green you are using! That deep, dark center is quite eye-catching!

    1. Diane I really did not think this project through very well, blindly started it and have hit so many disasters.

  3. So far so good, it's looking great. The good thing about using different shades of green is that you should be able to find other thread that will 'go' and won't have to match.

    1. Oh you are so kind Tim, but this is a very stressful project which I could do well without at the present time.
