Time

I really should go on a 'time management course' because I don't seem to use the time I have very sensibly and jump from one job to another instead of concentrating on one thing and getting it done.  I am like that with tatting.

After I had made the earring I got bored so instead of completing the pair I started an edging,  but I do have a purpose for this particular piece so may actually get it finished in the next day or two!

And today is a special day because in 1859 the famous tower clock known as Big Ben, located at the top of the 320-foot-high St. Stephen’s Tower, rang out over the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London, for the first time

  1. Interesting edging. That's the problem with socks and earrings, one is not enough!

  5. I did do a time management course. It didn't help much. Well, I no longer feel lost or as guilty. I've accepted my work style. I jump around. Squirrel. Oh! Sorry.
I do like the edging. Will we see the finished product?

The edging is actually finished and you will see it sewn on something very soon.

  6. You're too hard on yourself! You really accomplish a lot! You can easily turn that earring into a pendant, and the other project is very pretty and unique! Also love the seahorses!

Thanks for another history lesson. Of course, I went running to the internet for more info and some amazing photos and youtubes with the sound! Must really be something to hear it in person! We have a grandfather clock that chimes the familiar sequence - so a bit of London here in the house!

    1. Thanks for that Kathy although some days I do feel overwhelmed.
We hear the sound of Big Ben quite often on the radio as it introduces some news broadcasts. Although I can't stand chiming clocks in the house and ours are silenced - my husband repairs clocks so is not best pleased!

  7. St Stephen's Tower is actually a very short tower, on the north side of the Palace of Westminster. (Just above St Stephen's entrance.)

Big Ben is in the Elizabeth's Tower, renamed in honour of her golden jubilee from the original imaginative name: "Clock Tower".

(At the opposite end of the building to Elizabeth Tower is Victoria Tower.)

I was volunteered to run a quiz at work, years ago, and thought I'd throw in questions about the Palace of Westminster, as plenty of colleagues visited there regularly for meetings or APPGs. Strangely most couldn't name them either!

    1. Adrian of course you are right and the tower has been named wrongly for many years, even by Londoners .
I hate quizes but this is a good question to throw in, so will pass it on to the next person who is organising one.
      Thanks for correcting me
