I am starting to prepare for an adult craft evening near the end of April. Every Wednesday after school I help to run a craft club for children which is a huge success. It is also very challenging thinking of crafts, especially as the children are quite young mainly 3 - 7 yr olds and have a low attention span. The parents like to do the crafts as well or just finish off what their children have started to make. Today I made the first craft for the adult session, I am only planning to hold these sessions every three months.
As you can see I have added tatting (pinned them on) to this one dragonflies and butterflies but not sure they will be an option in April, will have to see. But nevertheless really pleased with the result as it is something that can be made in just over an hour, or less if you are good at sewing. Now to think and make more crafts for the evening.
It’s quite a job to keep thinking up projects, but you’ve made a really good start. Hearts are always popular!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane really appreciate your encouragement. The main problem when choosing projects for a community Craft Evening is that you have no idea of their ability.
ReplyDeleteFelt is great for all ages and You did a perfect job :) they will be proud to make one of these. I have worked with children and when young the skills they have are varied so much and your brain has to work overtime!
ReplyDeleteTrue Carolyn and felt does not fray! Yes children’s skills are so varied and you can certainly tell those who have the beginnings of being very artistic.
DeleteNice project! The preparation time must be enormous! Could you enlist the kids to help create the "pieces" for an adult craft? My Girl Scout troup helped a leader of a younger troup once by prepping the kits for the kids. The other leader was so thankful and another community tie was formed. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThe preparation is time consuming. Sadly no the children are far too young to help with the adult preparation, I spend a lot of time preparing for them. Although an older group could certainly help, good idea thanks.
DeleteThat's very pretty and imaginative. Have you every done paper quilling? It might be a good craft to teach.
ReplyDeleteYes Cheryl I have done quilling or rather my son many years ago was very good at it. Thanks for that idea.
DeleteFor thecreally little ones you can cut out simple pictures from magazines, stick them onto stiff cardboard and punch holes all around the edge. Plastic needles are safe to use, and thick wool, they will enjoy "sewing".
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Maureen thanks
DeleteSo pretty, bright and fun!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks so cute, could be used as a pin cushion or filled with lavender, or both.
