I have had these Lizbeth variegated threads for many years now and can remember so well when I first saw them on the internet and was so thrilled especially as all the lovely colours seemed to jump out at me. Sadly now that I am used to them there is not the same reaction and its often difficult to find a pattern that will show them up to the best advantage. However, as I tat these bookmarks I can feel a bit of that old thrill coming back again.
Of course people who have never seen the threads or tatting before are usually very surprised at all the lovely colours.
There is one question that I wonder if any of you can answer, especially those who live in the USA. Do you know how these brands of threads acquired their name 'Lizbeth' could it be that they were named after someone called Elizabeth?
Fun! Are there already recipients intended? I've wondered about the name too.
ReplyDeleteNo recipients intended as yet Michelle, but I wanted to keep a supply ready as everyone loves a tatted bookmark!
DeleteI love all these colours! - I think the variegates which don't include any white are the most effective. I don't know why the threads are called Lizbeth, perhaps they are named after the designer's daughter? Someone will know.
ReplyDeleteI hope someone can answer my question Maureen. Agree with you the variegates with white in don't really work
DeleteI know the answer to that, Sally. You should've asked me first!!! It's the name of one of Barb's family. She named the range after her. Barb is the one who took the enormous risk (financially) of going to China to source a supply of good threads for us all to enjoy. She's the owner of Handy Hands. There - you should've asked big sister first!!!!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you would know the answer and yes I should have asked you first, many thanks!
DeleteI love your colored threads and bookmarks, you can never have enough on hand.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Bernice and I will keep on making them
DeleteI'm sure if you contacted the owner of Handy Hands tatting in Paxton, IL, she'd tell you.
ReplyDeleteJane has has given the answer Dora
DeleteOh wow this pattern does show off the veragated colors so nicely, I see and love to see for my personal shopping reasons 😄
ReplyDeleteGlad you got the answer. Variegated thread (and yarn) needs the right pattern to show it off properly and this bookmark is perfect for the job. Good idea to have a stash of bookmarks. I like to do that, but my stash box is empty of bookmarks at the moment.
ReplyDeletePS - Sally, which pattern is this? I'm sure I know, but there are so many bookmarks - I love these threads and this design.
ReplyDeleteNot sure where the pattern is from Maureen, I feel sure one like it is out there but it is in my head at the moment
DeleteThey are all so fun colored and outstanding!!! :) Great way to brighten a day!! :)
